Schtumm Presents...Chai For All / Radio Banska

 —  —

The Queens Head, High Street, Box, Corsham

A World music spectacular - expect delicious sounds and dancing!

Chai For All

Exciting and entertaining, Chai For All plays Old World Yiddish folk, New World Yiddish theatre songs and jazz-tinged klezmer. A magnificent musical journey from the haunted Eastern European shtetls, through the dimly-lit basement bars of tango-crazed Buenos Aires, to the vibrant neighbourhoods of swinging New York.

Impassioned female vocals lead the party, joyously backed by trumpet, guitar and percussion. With fantastic music, brilliant audience rapport and more than a touch of goodtime showbiz, this is a set guaranteed to raise the spirits.

lineup: Marianna Moralis - vocals, David Mowat - trumpet, Knud Stüwe - guitar, Simon Leach - percussion

Radio Banska

A jazz/world-music quintet, Radio Banska has worked across the southwest since 2012, mostly on the arts centre and jazz festival circuit.

After the sad passing of founding violinist Nina Trott, the band experimented with different line ups, including Bristol sax man Craig Crofton - but is currently working with virtuoso accordionist Mirek Salmon, a perfect fit for the mesmerising, original compositions.

A highly melodic, jazz infused blend of Levantine mystery, dark Balkan passion and Latin rhythms.

“ ... an extraordinarily powerful band – a kind of Levantine zeppelin ... “

“ ... a delight of fusion jazz - often surreal, always hard driving ... “
